MEDICAL EQUIPMENT DEALER NETWORK

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- (December 2, 1999) -- Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM: SPAN) announced that it has signed a participating manufacturer's agreement with Van G. Miller & Associates (VGM Group), the country's largest buying alliance for independent suppliers of medical equipment.

Through the agreement, Span-America's entire product line of therapeutic overlays, specialty mattresses, seating products, and patient positioners will be made available to 1,500 VGM Group members in 2,500 locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

VGM Group members spend an estimated $500 million annually on medical equipment and are encouraged to purchase from the Group's 75 participating manufacturers. In addition, Group members who buy most heavily from participating manufacturers receive lucrative sales leads generated by HOMELINK Provider Network, the VGM Group's nationally marketed referral service for insurance providers and case management service organizations.

The agreement became effective on December 1, 1999, and will be extended automatically each year based on mutual satisfaction of the parties.

"Signing a deal with VGM is considered a major coup in the home medical equipment industry," said Clyde Shew, vice-president of medical sales and marketing for Span-America. "It represents a tremendous opportunity to strengthen our presence in the homecare market."
