SPAN-AMERICA DECLARES REGULAR QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 6, 2009) -- Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAN) announced today that the Board of Directors declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.09 per share.  The dividend is payable September 4, 2009, to shareholders of record on August 19, 2009.

"This dividend marks our 79th consecutive quarter of paying cash dividends,” stated Jim Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Span‑America.  “We believe Span-America’s continuation of our cash dividend program during this weak economy highlights our performance and our commitment to building long-term shareholder value. We have returned $23.0 million in cash to shareholders through our quarterly and special dividends since we began paying dividends 19 years ago."
