SPAN-AMERICA DECLARES DIVIDEND

GREENVILLE, S.C. – (October 28, 2005) – Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAN) announced today the Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.045 per share. The dividend is payable December 2, 2005, to shareholders of record on November 15, 2005.

"This quarter's dividend represents a 12.5% increase from the cash dividend paid in the same quarter last year," stated James D. Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Span-America. "This is our 64th consecutive quarterly dividend.
