SPAN-AMERICA DECLARES DIVIDEND

GREENVILLE, S.C. – (April 28, 2005) – Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAN) announced today that the Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.04 per share payable June 3, 2005, to shareholders of record on May 16, 2005.

"Our earnings have shown solid growth since last year and this dividend represents a 14% increase over the dividend paid in the same quarter of fiscal 2004," stated James D. Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Span-America. "The growth in our cash dividend remains an important part in building Span-America's shareholder value."
