SPAN-AMERICA DECLARES REGULAR QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 1, 2008) -- Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAN) announced today that the Board of Directors declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.09 per share.  The dividend is payable September 4, 2008, to shareholders of record on August 15, 2008. 

Our Board of Directors believes our cash dividend is an important part of our strategy to build long-term shareholder value and this payment marks our 75th consecutive quarter of paying cash dividends,” stated Jim Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Span‑America.  “This payment of $0.09 per share represents a 12.5% increase in the dividend amount paid compared with the same period last year and is the third increase in the payment in the last two calendar years.”
