SPAN-AMERICA INCREASES QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 1, 2008) -- Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAN) announced today that the Board of Directors has approved a 12.5% increase to the Company’s quarterly dividend.  The dividend of $0.09 per share is payable June 6, 2008, to shareholders of record on May 15, 2008. 

"The dividend action taken by our Board reflects the Company’s strong financial performance to date and the Board’s confidence in our future prospects.” stated Jim Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Span‑America.  “Since 2005, Span-America has returned a total of $17.1 million to shareholders through its quarterly and special cash dividends.  This payment marks our 74th consecutive quarter of paying cash dividends and our fifth dividend increase in the last five years.”
