SPAN-AMERICA DECLARES REGULAR QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

GREENVILLE, S.C. (November 5, 2008) -- Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAN) announced today that the Board of Directors declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.09 per share. The dividend is payable December 4, 2008, to shareholders of record on November 19, 2008. 

"This dividend marks out 76th consecutive quarter of cash dividends,” stated Jim Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Span‑America.  “Our cash dividend program is an important part of building long-term shareholder value.  In fiscal 2007, we returned $14.7 million to shareholders through our regular quarterly dividends and the special dividend of $5.00 per share paid in June 2007.  This payment of $0.09 per share represents a 12.5% increase in the dividend amount paid compared with the same period last year and is the third increase in the payment in the last two calendar years.”
