SPAN-AMERICA DECLARES REGULAR QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 14, 2009) -- Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAN) announced today that the Board of Directors declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.09 per share. The dividend is payable June 5, 2009, to shareholders of record on May 22, 2009. 

"This dividend marks our 78th consecutive quarter of paying cash dividends,” stated Jim Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Span‑America.  “We have returned $22.7 million in cash to shareholders through our quarterly and special dividends since we began paying dividends 19 years ago.  We believe Span-America is performing well in this weak economic environment and our dividend program represents our continuing effort to build long‑term value for our shareholders.”
