THIRD QUARTER CONFERENCE CALL ON THE INTERNET

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — October 11, 2005 — Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) will provide an on-line, real-time Web-cast and rebroadcast of its third quarter results conference call to be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. Central.

A simulcast of the conference call will be available on the Internet under the investor relations’ tab on the Company’s Web site, www.avocent.com, as well as www.investorcalendar.com. The call will be available for replay on the Company’s Web site for approximately 30 days.
