BAIRD GROWTH STOCK CONFERENCE ON MAY 4^TH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—April 30, 2004—Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today announced that it will participate in the RW Baird & Co. Growth Stock Conference to be held May 4 thru May 6, 2004, in Chicago, and that there will be an on-line simulcast and replay of the presentation.  The Company's Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Dusty Pritchett, will be speaking at the conference at 3:15 p.m. Central time on Tuesday, May 4.
