           SECOND QUARTER CONFERENCE CALL ON THE INTERNET AND
   REVISED EXPECTED CLOSING DATE FOR ITS ACQUISITION OF LANDESK

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (July 17, 2006) — Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) will provide an online, real-time webcast and rebroadcast of its second quarter results conference call on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. Central time.

Avocent also announced that it now expects to close its acquisition of LANDesk Group Limited during August 2006 when governmental approvals are received.

 A simulcast of the conference call will be available online at www.avocent.com under the investor relations’ tab as well as www.investorcalendar.com. The online replay will be available on the Company’s web site for approximately 30 days.
