ADVOCAT RECEIVES FOUR NATIONAL QUALITY AWARDS FROM AMERICAN HEALTHCARE
ASSOCIATION
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - (August 14, 2007) - Advocat Inc. (NASDAQ: AVCA) today announced that four of its long-term care facilities were recognized with
National Quality Awards by the American Healthcare Association (AHCA).
The Company’s West Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Liberty, Kentucky, was awarded the Step II award, making it the second
Advocat facility to achieve this level of recognition by the American Healthcare Association.
“As a result of this award, the West Liberty facility is now eligible to apply for the prestigious Malcolm Baldridge award,” noted
William R. Council, III, Chief Executive Officer of Advocat. “The continued excellence demonstrated at West Liberty is a credit to the administrator, Pam Burton, and her entire staff for their dedication and
professionalism.”
In addition, three facilities were recognized with the Step I award by the American Healthcare Association: Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in
Ashland, Kentucky, South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Shore, Kentucky, and Best Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
Since 1996, the AHCA Quality Award program has been recognizing AHCA-member facilities that display a clear commitment to the AHCA’s Quality First
initiative. This national quality improvement initiative is the result of the collaboration of long-term care providers, resident advocacy groups, government agencies and others interested in promoting quality
improvement in the nation’s 16,000 nursing centers. To be eligible to receive these national awards a facility must demonstrate at least a three year history of excellence in quality care, staff, and
residents’ satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
“I am pleased to announce Advocat’s continued recognition by the AHCA for our commitment to providing quality healthcare for
our residents,” Mr. Council added. “With these four awards, 18 of our 49 facilities have won National Quality Awards, with two winning Step II awards. I am very proud of the employees of these
facilities for their unfaltering commitment to quality performance.”
Advocat provides long term care services to patients in 49 skilled nursing centers containing 5,671 licensed nursing beds, primarily in the
Southeast.
